The 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens with Removable Hood from Rokinon gives you a 167º view with dramatic, exaggerated perspective when used with an APS-C camera, or a powerful circular image floating in the frame when used with a full frame digital camera or 35mm film camera. With hybrid aspherical elements and multi-layer coating, you will produce sharply defined images with a minimum of flare and ghosting. The 8mm lens focuses as close as 12" (30.48 cm) from the lens. This version of the 8mm f/3.8 Fisheye lens comes with a removable lens hood that will offer glare reduction and lens protection, but can be removed to offer an increased and unobstructed angle of view when shooting with full frame digital or 35mm cameras.

Note: Produces a circular, vignette image on full-frame sensors or 35mm film

  • Ultra wide-angle 8mm fisheye lens with exaggerated perspective for dramatic effects
  • Ultra-wide 167º diagonal field-of-view for APS-C size image formats--will produce a rounded image that doesn't cover the entire frame when used with compatible full frame digital cameras or 35mm film cameras
  • Lens is constructed with hybrid aspherical elements for outstanding, sharply defined images
  • Lens features super multi-layer coating to reduce flare and ghost images
  • Lens has a minimum focusing distance of 12" (30.48 cm) for enhanced close-up shots
  • The petal-style lens hood can be removed so as to not interfere with the image when shooting in full frame digital or 35mm film
  • The optical construction of the lens is 10 elements placed in 7 optical groups. Featuring an aspherical hybrid lens and the latest anti-reflective multi-coating (MC) to minimize flare and ghosting.

Awesome lens that makes for really cool shots

This lens is amazing for capturing unique and creative shots. The fisheye effect gives photos a fun, distorted perspective that’s perfect for wide-angle shots and adding a bit of flair to your photography. The image quality is great, and the build feels solid. It’s perfect for anyone looking to experiment with wide, extreme perspectives and really make their shots stand out.I’d recommend this lens to photographers who want to add some creativity to their toolkit, especially for landscapes, architecture, or fun, out-of-the-box shots.

Superb lens if you get a good one

I bought this lens for taking pictures of the sky at night. The first copy I bought had some annoying coma aberration on the optical axis wide open. Some might call it a "flare" towards one side of the image. Anyway stars did not look good at F/3.5. They were better at F/5.6, but still the coma was present. By F/8 the coma was gone, but then the stars were very dim. I bought a second copy of this lens, and the second one is superb and sharp even wide open -- I cannot believe how good the second lens is.The photo shows was a street light at night looks like in this lens wide open. Copy 1 has an extra ring or loop of light on the right side of the image that should not be there. Copy 2 of this lens makes a near perfect sharp image. Sometimes coma aberration is present in lenses at the field edge, but should never be seen at the field center like this.

For Nikon Users

Be aware has not auto focus, the aperture on the lens has to be in F22, if not the camera will send error, the F can be adjusted with the camera but the lens Has to be in F22.

Works well with my daughter's nikon 3200

Works well with my daughter's nikon 3200. However it is MANUAL FOCUS only. That's a PITA but the only AF fisheye I could find is the nikkor one for like a thousand bucks. This thing is worth the money, even considering the inconvenience.Manual focus is kind of difficult on modern dslr because they don't include a focus grid. Makes it kind of hit-or-miss.
