Based upon ROKINON’s original and highly popular Full Frame MF 85mm F1.4, the SERIES II models offer a sleek, comfortable ergonomic design with a bunch of new and useful features.

SERIES II ROKINON lenses include weather sealing, an aperture de-click switch for smooth and silent operation during video, a rubberized micro pattern focusing grip, and a nine blade circular aperture for greater bokeh. In addition, the focusing control action has been modified with a smoother, perfectly damped long throw for precise follow focus when shooting video.

The SERIES II 85mm F1.4 incorporates a nine element in seven group design with a Hybrid Aspherical element and UMC antireflective coatings to maximize image quality and contrast even at wide open apertures. Its fast F1.4 maximum aperture provides excellent low light performance and precise selective focus with smooth bokeh.

Filter users will enjoy the IF (Internal Focus) design which prevents both changes in length and front element rotation. This enables easy use of polarizers and other filters that require precise positioning. This 85mm portrait prime delivers a 28.3° angle of view for full frame cameras with a telephoto view of approximately 17.7° with Canon APS-C sensor model cameras.

It comes equipped with a removable and reversible lens hood and soft lens pouch.

Features

Weather sealing and Updated Design

Environmental seals are located at the lens mount area to prevent infiltration of moisture and/or rain drops. This feature provides an additional layer of protection when shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions. Also, MF 14mm F2.8 SERIES II has the new micro patterned rubber focus ring to lower the contaminations and increase the grip. The product design is updated with new components and fonts to convey sophisticated and modern look.
※ Nikon F mount has no weather sealing

Smooth Bokeh for Portraits

In terms of the “bokeh” performance, its 9-rounded aperture blades which will help you achieve excellent “bokeh” results. The space between the subject and background will be effectively separated and make the subject more eye-catching. Its 9 aperture blades provide clearly defined sunstars when the aperture is stopped-down

De-click Function for Video Filming

When shooting video, it is pivotal to capture the object maintaining the same brightness even when you're changing the aperture. Here is the new feature for filming with MF 85mm. Switch the silver ring from "Click" to "Free", then your aperture is now not stopped at every aperture as cine lenses do. This "Declick" will help you adjust the brightness continuously and smoothly with much more details between the F stops.

Expressive Image Quality of Beloved Lens

The new MF 85mm F1.4 Series II features a total of 9 elements in 7 groups. Rokinon use 1 Hybrid Aspherical glass to minimize spherical and distortion aberration for sharp image quality. It will capture the detailed emotion of subjects in most beautiful way.

Great price aside, it's an incredible lens!

The review of this lens actually gave me very mixed emotions. You probably just said emotions? Yes, and I will explain.First off here's some info:My Experience Level: Professional (Successful Photography Business, 30+ Weddings, Thousands of Portraits)Camera Body: Canon EOS R + EF adapter (needed)The 1 star for auto focus and image stabilization is due to the lens not having these features. In order for the Camera body to take photos you need to actually go into custom settings and tell the camera "Release Shutter without a Lens attached". Yes, unless it's a Canon lens the body will not even acknowledge it's existence. The lens also does not have mechanical image stabilization. If your camera body does not have digital stabilization I suggest shooting in 3 photo bursts to help with he potential shake/stutter when hand holding. With that said, lets talk about the lens itself. First of all it looks, feels and functions just as good as Canon's prime lenses. It's heavy, well made and actually looks really cool. The lenses dials have very satisfying click/tap feedback as you change the settings and the focus ring is very very smooth! I was blown away! The biggest con is you must manual focus the lens using the ring. Now, I was terrified at this. I have always auto focused, rarely using the viewfinder to take photos. My screen is always open, max brightness and I tend to always shoot this way. One huge find is that I discovered Canon's manual focus feature to highlight areas that are in sharp focus STILL functions with this lens (picture included with review). That may be a game changer for some, because it actually eliminates a lot of the uncertainty. With all that said I can now bring up the mixed emotions. First off, the lens takes absolutely stunning photos. I can't really stress how beautiful the bokeh actually is. I knew for a very long time if I wanted the creamiest, smoothest bokeh a (1.2 or 1.4) 85mm was the excalibur for portraits. The issue is Canon's version of these lenses are literally between $2300 and $2800 dollars. So, basically you're paying $2000+ more dollars for auto focus/stabilization and lens features syncing up with Canon's faster point/shoot system. Nothing against Canon, because I know they price their professional lenses with market markup taking into consideration the "returns" the lens will give. However, in my case and for many after the pandemic $2700 is just way too much money for me right now. I am so happy with the lens, and plan on putting it to great use this year!
